electricblue.firefly asked:

I am a squash player. And when I tell my friends that, they’ll all be “uh..” Why is squash considered a “lame game?” As far as I know, you need intelligence and agility to play this game! Not only that, you need to be super fit! So why is squash considered to be a lamer game than tennis or badminton? It’s really sad to see squash a dying sport. ):

Somebody asked:

My friend is impossible to buy for, but because he plays squash, for part of his present, I’m thinking of getting him some squash balls. He uses the single yellow dot ones.

What I’d like to know is if they’re prone to bursting or not? He’s mentioned this has happened in the past, so I was thinking I could get him a little stockpile if it happens a lot.

If it’s a rare incident, then I better think of another present!

Thanks everyone!

There doesn’t seem to be a Squash Category here?? Would any one be able to advise substantially on a decent squash racquet, also on other equipment, such as balls, brand, materials, and qualities of a club - is squash well represented in england? - I cant seem to find much information on it…… Many thanks in advance…

I’ve been playing squash since I was 11. It’s an extremely fast-paced sport requiring a lot of skill. What I’ve never understood is why squash is oten equated with snobbery in American popular culture. Frasier and his snooty brother played squash. Woody Allen’s Manhattan friends play. Michael Douglass played squash in Wall Street. In Fracture, the DA tells the main character that he won’t fit into the corporate law firm he’s joining because “those guys play squash”. And whenever they actually show the characters playing, they look like they’re dressed for cricket and clearly have no technique whatsoever.

When you look at the top squash players in the world, they are just down to earth people from UK, Australia, Egypt, Malaysia and other commonwealth countries. For many years, the game was dominated by Pakistani players from extremely poor backgrounds. How then do Americans figure that it’s a rich person’s game?

star_impulse asked:

Ive just started to play squash and want to purchase my own racket. Theres a sale on all squash rackets on amazon.co.uk at the moment - and all are going pretty cheap! Thing is, i have no idea which to buy. Any recommendations? What about good makes? What about titanium models - what are they like? I want something that will last me through uni (starting next year).
Thanks.

Hi all,
I’ve recently taken up Squash for about an hour a week with thoughts of playing in a friendly tournament and maybe spending a few more hours on the court. At the moment I’m just wearing Brooks Insight runners at the moment.

I’m curious as to what is unique about Squash shoes and how they might benefit me. I want to buy my own Squash Racquet first with thoughts of purchasing Squash shoes in the future perhaps.
